I'd think it was entirely proper to applaud the fact that Oxford broke its 301-year male-only streak by appointing Ruth Padel, the (ironically) great-great granddaughter of Charles Darwin, the new Oxford professor of poetry this past Saturday...if some "anonymous" person hadn't completed sunk competitor Derek Walcott's campaign for the post.
Does this truly constitute a victory for so-called minorities?
